About Post 445

Aviation Exploring is a career based program for young men and women who are between 14 – 20 years of age.

Post 445 is based in Fullerton, California at AFI Flight Training Center. Aviation Explorer posts help youth gain insight into a variety of programs that offer hands-on career activities. For young men and women who are interested in careers in the field of aviation, exploring offers experiential learning with a lot of fun-filled hands-on activities that promote the growth and development of adolescent youth. Aviation Explorer posts also help youth attain their Career Achievement Award.

Testimonials

Chaston Hunneyman - I joined the Post when I was 15, and it changed my life. I always knew I loved aviation, but I never really thought about becoming a pilot. During our Pancake Breakfast fundraiser, I won my first flight in the raffle. At first I thought you had to be at least 21 to start flying, but after talking to an instructor, he informed me I could start flying at 15. I went up with him and my eyes have not stopped looking skyward. At age 16 I completed my solo flight, and I am currently 17 and just waiting on my check ride to become a licensed pilot. If it was not for the Aviation Explorers, I do not believe that I would be flying right now.

Ricky Magdaleno - I've acquired so many professional skills in my 7 years with the aviation explorers; writing a resume being one of those skills. This program has helped guide myself and many others through the steps necessary to pursue just about any career in aviation. (Pilot, mechanic, flight attendant etc.) I was awarded a $1,000 scholarship through the post and currently, our youth are learning how/where to apply for scholarships. The youth members have experienced adult advisors at their disposal to edit and type letters of recommendation to ensure their highest possibility of success.
